From Mountain to Ocean | The Big Island in 4K

It has been over a year since I shot my first timelapse. I became hooked to photography and timelapse from that day. This has been an ongoing project for one year. I created this project to capture the beauty of the Big Island’s landscapes. Mauna Kea is the mountain featured in over 10 clips in this video. It is a place visible from any part of the island. It is a place of endless awe. This video showcases only the tip of the iceberg. There is an immense amount of untouched beauty on the Big Island.

The experiences were well worth the outcome. I spent my time in freezing nights, getting altitude sickness, skateboarding in the dark, carrying heavy equipment, hiking rugged lava fields, and much more. A lot of mistakes were made that helped me improve my skill.

Over 30,000 photos taken and about 6,000 made it into the video. Capturing the photos are only half the work. I spent countless hours editing, re-editing, exporting, waiting, compiling, and grading footage. All post-production done in Lightroom, LRTimelapse, After Effects, Premiere, and Speedgrade.
